The abdomen


  • The abdomen is an anatomical area that is bounded by the lower margin of the ribs above, the pelvic bone (pubic ramus) below, and the flanks on each side.
  • The abdomen is divided into right upper and lower and left upper and lower quadrants by a horizontal and a vertical line intersecting at the umbilicus.
  • The portion of the body between the chest and the pelvis.
  • Abdomen includes many organs of the digestive system, such as the stomach, small and large intestine, liver, pancreas and gallbladder.
